I fell into and for this story in a way I wasn’t prepared for. The author has a way of letting you get to know the characters, while at the same time, making you want to know more.
After getting to hear Della’s point of view about her relationship with her sister, Eula, her time in prison for the murder of this sister, the ending was a surprise that still felt just right.
I have no idea why it’s been so long since I’ve read a historical novel. I’ll be reading her first novel, Memories of Us, and watching for her books in the future.
